It’s Shadow Shot Sunday so why not pop over and see what others have written and photographed.
While we were in Kenya we woke up one early to do a hot air balloon flight – another first for me. I don’t like heights, or more specifically edges, so I wasn’t sure how I’d go but I loved it!! Of course we were floating so low we could almost have jumped out, except for those voracious and carnivorous critters.
Blurry trees in the pre-dawn morning light. You can see how low you can go.
I'm a Queenslander by birth and after nearly 20 years in the Northern Territory I've returned to my home state. I've been researching my Queensland ancestors for nearly 30 years and like most Aussies I'm a typical "mongrel" with English, Irish, Scottish and German ancestry.

That is something I’ve always wanted to do, but haven’t quite made it as yet. I have been up in a tethered balloon … In another lifetime..rising up beside early morning traffic on the Story Bridge, till we caused quite a commotion with drivers being, shall we say, a little amazed. We were very nicely advised to stop…great views then, but nowhere near as wonderful as your photos show. You really did have the trip of a lifetime.
That would have been amusing, seeing the traffic thrown into chaos 🙂 I can recommend trying it untethered sometime, but even better in Africa, where there were enough staff that that voyagers didn’t have to gather the balloon together.
What a lovely moment captured in photos.
Have a blessed Sunday.

Thanks Rose, hope you had a wonderful day too.
That ride looks amazing!
It certainly was Liz.
The photos are marvellous, it must have been so lovely floating into the morning.
It was quite blissful Titania and I was surprised that I wasn’t nervous at all.
Gorgeous!!
Thanks Robin.
