Floral delicacy

At the weekend we had a garden working bee in our common property area. Things were lopped, dug out and generally knocked into line. Along the way I spotted this gorgeous little flower on one of the crotons…oh so delicate. We all agreed we’d never seen one of these plants flowering before, possibly because they’re not obvious against the colours of the plant’s leaves.

Generally tropical flowers are brash and colourful while this one was dainty and discreet. Isn’t it gorgeous?

Honeyeater in the pink

This little honeyeater was enjoying the early morning honey in this pink flowered bush in our garden. Cute isn’t he? Oops, sorry I’ve uploaded these before but they may as well stay here now.

They’re pretty funny because they shriek full-tilt when they see the cat, thereby alerting the cat to their presence. Silence would be a much better strategy even though he’ll usually just sit and look at them.

This little bird visited for a honey snack while I was working on my blogs this morning. He’s cute but wary of the person at the table.
