Around the Darwin Garden Expo

Here are some shots of scenes around the Garden Expo in Darwin.

Have I mentioned that the Top End has a croc obsession? Seeing a large freshwater croc is an obsession for most tourists, and some have paid with their lives unfortunately. This large garden croc is attention-getting for a  display but why would you want this in your garden?

These lampshades are eye-catching and either the same or similar to ones used during the Darwin Festival,also in the Botanic Gardens.

Using the Northern Territory as a dump for nuclear waste is hotly debated.

These ladies from the Larrakia Nation gave me permission to photograph them preparing to weave baskets. The Larrakia people are the traditional owners of the land on which Darwin is situated. It has become common practice to acknowledge this at the commencement of public speeches or conferences in Darwin.
